Tetreault Design Overview
Founded in the mid 80s as a consultancy specializing in logo and environmental graphic design
...before "wayfinding" found its way into our every-day vernacular, the studio pioneered melding the creative design process with
the first computer aided design (CAD/DOS) technologies. The early focus was on computer automation for
sign system component cost analysis, design readability studies and value engineering; all quantifiable design tasks that
were greatly improved by the new computing technologies.
Following the first design/computing
successes, the studio then developed proprietary software and processes to aid in the design and implementation of more complex
design and wayfinding needs; building on AutoDesk and Intergraph advances in modeling and script applications. The result
was a further melding of the nebulous "what-if" and the finite realms of project timelines and cost
containment.
Through out the 90s,
Tetreault Design continued to evolve by creating new wayfinding products, tools and services (such
as NovaCore1, MAPS2 and Pathfinder3);
driven again by re-combining creativity and technology in new, meaningful and measurable terms. The
effort lead to major government, healthcare and transportation commissions in environmental graphic design, brand development/projection
and project management; in both design-build and design-bid venues.
Today, the studio
remains nimble by choice and highly focused on the converging wayfinding design/brand/cost equation ...along with the
resulting challenges and opportunities with the www's roll in wayfinding information dissemination (a DanSign
Global initiative4) and the growing green movement. Tetreault Design now focuses on the most challenging wayfinding
and communication design for the healthcare, government, transportation and corporate sectors, providing creative and
responsible solutions to organizations throughout North America.
Our commissions typically include an emphasis on solutions that allow for economical change
and expansion. This is especially relevant today where the need for change is inherent in almost every business
model and every opportunity for clear wayfinding, information and brand projection is both critical and central to differientation and
success.
.
We approach each design commission
with a collaborative thought process and focus on identifying and analyzing every goal and constraint from
the onset; prior to starting the design task. This approach greatly increasing a work’s long-term utility and
success while substantially reducing the costs associated with revisiting a capital project prior to its intended value
cycle.
The Tetreault Design philosophy remains clear and
unwavering; that of melding a strong creative philosophy and process with today's technological tools …providing
our clients with creative, responsible and cost effective solutions to complex information design needs through a close,
on-going collaboration.
1NovaCore,
an award winning component environmental sign system combines the required information content with a customizable background
that can be paint, wall covering or even fabric. The product is licensed to a national fabricating
company.
.
2MAPS, a proprietary process and software service
combines JCAHO, Life Safety and Staff-Required Information dissemination into a highly manageable, easily up-dated and highly
cost effective process. The MAPS is licensed to a healthcare service organization.
.
3Pathfinder isTetreault Design’s most
widely applied healthcare wayfinding program. By utilizing MAPS and specially designed components, healthcare wayfinding
systems are perpetually up-to-date in a very efficient and cost effective manner.
